Rules and Etiquette

RULES

RULES:  We will observe USGA Rules of Golf

1.      The ball will be played down everywhere.

2.      Out-of-Bounds: Fence around golf course.

3.      White Riverlateral water hazard (not Out-of-Bounds).

4.      Driving Range is Out-of-Bounds, including Hole #9.

5.      All In-Bounds heather is considered lateral hazard.

6.      If a ball is unplayable behind #4 green at railroad ties, it is a free drop.

7.      If the player deems her ball to be unplayable, she shall, under penalty of one stroke: (a) Play a ball as nearly as possible at the spot from which the original ball was last played; or (b) Drop a ball within two club-lengths of the spot where the ball lay, but not nearer the hole; or (c) Drop a ball behind the point where the ball lay, keeping that point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball is dropped, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped.  If the unplayable ball is in a bunker, the player may proceed under Clause a, b, or c.  If she elects to proceed under Clause b or c, a ball must be dropped in the bunker.  The ball may be cleaned when lifted under this Rule.

8.      To pick up the pace, the maximum number of strokes allowed on any hole is 12.  If a player must pick up at 12 strokes, three of those strokes count as putts.  This will apply to all league play EXCEPT Low Net and Low Gross Championship Tournaments.

9.      A ball is considered lost if not found in five (5) minutes.  Should you find your ball after putting another ball into play, you must continue play with the second ball.

10.  Keep carts 25 feet from greens; park carts at rear of green whenever possible to facilitate a speedy exit to the next tee.

11.  A minimum of 15 players completing the round is required to constitute league play for prizes.

12.  An established handicap is required to qualify for prizes in the Low Net Tournament.

13.  You must play five (5) times in ‘regular league play’ to qualify for prizes in Club Championship Tournament.

14.  BE ON TIME!  Arrive at least 30 minutes prior to shotgun start.

15.  BE HONEST!  Enter your scores for your GHIN handicap when you play other than league play.  This will keep your handicap accurate.

GOLF ETIQUETTE (EQUALLY  IMPORTANT AS RULES)

1.      Golf is a game of concentration, so don’t yell, talk, or stand too close to the one addressing the ball or putting.

2.      All par 3’s are courtesy holes.  When you get on the green, wave the group behind you to hit their tee shots.  They may decline, but offer anyway.

3.      If league players are waiting behind you and there is an open hole in front of you, please wave for them to play through.

4.      Play ‘READY GOLF’!  Be prepared to play your ball as soon as it is your turn.  A minute saved is a minute gained.

5.      Replace all divots and fix ball marks on the greens.

6.      Leave the green immediately.  Exchange clubs and record scores at the next tee.

7.      Score Cards:  Carefully add your scores!  All cards turned in must be accurate, dated, signed and attested to be eligible for prizes!
